DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of the Inyo and the Inyo National Forest for a backcountry volunteer trip in the White Mountains\, June 19–21\, 2026. \nTHIS TRIP IS NOW FULL. Please email izzy@friendsoftheinyo.org with “White Mountain fence removal” in the subject to join the waitlist. \nVolunteers will spend two nights camped along upper Cottonwood Creek in the White Mountains. Cottonwood Creek is a federally designated Wild and Scenic River and home to a nursery population of the Paiute cutthroat trout\, a fish listed as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Volunteers will work two full days dismantling obsolete wilderness fencing. \nThis is a physically demanding trip in a remote setting\, with plenty of breaks and time to enjoy the wilderness. Open to volunteers with an interest in backcountry stewardship and the physical ability to hike and work in a remote area.
