Cerro Gordo Mines is the ownership group restoring the historic ghost town of Cerro Gordo, high in the Inyo Mountains above Keeler on the east side of Owens Valley. Founded in 1865 after silver was discovered in the area, Cerro Gordo grew into a major mining town whose silver and lead helped bankroll early Los Angeles before it was abandoned in the 1930s. Writer and entrepreneur Brent Underwood bought the town in 2018 and has been restoring its buildings and documenting the work on YouTube. Today the group runs the Cerro Gordo Silver Run, hosts tours and overnight stays, and occasionally puts on public events at the town. Based in Keeler, CA.
