An all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Bishop that supports cancer patients and their families across Inyo and Mono Counties. The Cancer Resource Center at 2957 Birch Street is open weekly and stocks wigs, head scarves, and mastectomy bras at no charge; volunteers also help patients navigate paperwork and connect with additional services. Financial aid covers a wide range of needs — travel to distant treatment centers, rent, utilities, groceries, medications, and mammogram screening — because the remoteness of the Eastern Sierra means local patients routinely face costs that urban patients do not. A monthly Cancer Conversations Support Group brings patients together, and an Angel Mentor program pairs newly diagnosed individuals with survivors who have walked the same path. Fundraising events include an annual Walk & Run and a March walk for colorectal cancer awareness.
