IMACA (Inyo Mono Advocates for Community Action)

A nonprofit community action agency serving Inyo and Mono counties, with its office at 145 E. South Street in Bishop. It runs drive-thru food distributions at community centers, parks, fire stations and churches up and down the corridor, including Benton, Chalfant, Big Pine, Independence, Lone Pine, Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Lee Vining, Bridgeport and Walker. Its programs also include help paying energy bills and making homes more energy efficient. The food distributions are open to local residents who need groceries, and an intake form is asked for at least a day before a pickup. Volunteers and donations help keep the work going.
