Owens Valley Indian Water Commission

A tribal water commission based in Bishop that works for the Bishop Paiute, Big Pine Paiute, and Lone Pine Paiute-Shoshone Tribes. It acts as the planning and coordinating body for protecting water rights, including dealings with the federal government and LADWP for its member tribes. It also supports Indigenous food sovereignty through agricultural assistance grants, environmental monitoring, cultural revitalization, and youth education in the Owens Valley. Community events happen at Three Creeks (Pahidu Payahuupü), including free hands-on classes such as natural building and plaster repair.
