The Horseshoe Meadow Day Use Area (Picnic Area) is a fee-free, day-use-only site managed by the Inyo National Forest, located at the end of Horseshoe Meadow Road approximately 24 miles southwest of Lone Pine at 10,000 feet elevation. The picnic area is shaded by Foxtail Pines and offers picnic tables, BBQ grills, potable water, and restrooms. No overnight parking or camping is permitted. The road to the area is closed from approximately November to May due to snow, and there is no cell service on site. Trails from the broader Horseshoe Meadow Recreation Area provide access to the Golden Trout Wilderness, John Muir Wilderness, and Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park.
