A largely dry lakebed in the southern Owens Valley, about five miles south of Lone Pine off US-395. Patsiata is the Paiute and Shoshone name for Owens Lake. The lakebed is open to the public. Shallow flooding, managed vegetation and gravel have brought birds back, and the lake is a stopover on the Pacific Flyway for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds. Organized public birding events are held at the site.
