School of Lost Borders

A wilderness rites-of-passage school based in Big Pine, with a mailing address at P.O. Box 796. It runs vision fasts, guide trainings, and programs on living and dying, plus a program on bringing ceremony and nature-based practice into everyday life. Most programs are held outdoors in wild places, including the Inyo Mountains, Eureka Valley, and Death Valley. Events at the school include men’s and women’s rites of passage, a two-week training for women, and workshops such as The Initiatory Nature of Loss and Composting Whiteness & Cultivating Solidarity. The programs are for people marking a life change, and for those who want to learn to guide rites of passage in their own communities. Dates and registration are posted on the school’s program schedule.
