Backcountry Cooking: Herbal Recipes & Outdoor Kitchens @ Rainbow Pack Outfitters

Rainbow Pack Outfitters and The Backcountry Cook present a 6-day, 5-night backcountry horse-packing and cooking trip into the High Sierra. Participants ride into a remote mountain camp with trained guides and a pack string of mules, then learn wilderness cooking techniques — including herbal recipes — from cookbook author and herbalist Spencer McCown and backcountry cook Kelly Kate Warren. The trip runs July 31–August 5, 2026, and is operated by Rainbow Pack Outfitters, an authorized USFS and NPS commercial permit holder operating on the Inyo National Forest.
