Tüba Nüga — Pinenut Cleaning & Cooking @ Wanaaha Casino Outdoor Grounds

Join the Owens Valley Paiute community for Tüba Nüga, the annual Pinenut Dance and blessing — “Tagwa Na-Sumu’u Tei Tüba Noka a Sudahai-Wei” (We are all going to bless our pinenuts). The day begins at 10 AM with Pinenut Cleaning & Cooking: come help prepare the tüba in wire baskets over hot coals; all cooked pinenuts go toward the evening blessing. Stop by anytime and lend a hand — wear old clothes and boots or close-toed shoes. At 6 PM, enjoy a potluck-style Community Feed; bring your favorite dish or dessert to share. Meat, bread, and drinks will be provided. If bringing a cold dish, pack it in a cooler. At 7 PM, the Pinenut Blessing & Dance begins — everyone is welcome to dance and give thanks for a good harvest. Bring your own lawn chairs and layer up. BYOB (reusable water bottle) commitment: show your bottle to enter a raffle for prizes; bring your own plate and utensils for an extra ticket. Water available on site. New location this year! Questions: call the Cultural Center at 760-873-8844, press 0.
